๐ŸŒค๏ธ RealMeteo Weather App

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 1, 2026  ยท  Effective immediately

This Privacy Policy explains how RealMeteo ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
๐Ÿ“‹

1. Information We Collect

Location Data
With your explicit permission, the app accesses your device's GPS or network location solely to provide accurate local weather forecasts. Your location is sent directly to the Open-Meteo weather API and is never stored on our servers.

Device Identifiers
Our advertising partner (Google AdMob) may collect device identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID to serve relevant advertisements. This is standard practice for ad-supported apps.

Usage Data
We do not collect analytics or usage data ourselves. Any analytics data collected by third-party SDKs (such as Google Mobile Ads) is governed by their own privacy policies.

User Preferences
Settings such as your preferred language, temperature unit, favorite cities, and notification preferences are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to us.

โš™๏ธ

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected for the following purposes:

  • To fetch and display accurate weather forecasts for your location
  • To display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob
  • To send morning weather notifications (only if you enable this feature)
  • To remember your preferences and favorite cities locally on your device
  • To update home screen widgets with current weather data
๐Ÿ“Œ We do not use your data for profiling, we do not sell it, and we do not share it with any party other than those described in this policy.
โš–๏ธ

2.1 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) โ€” for personalized advertising and location-based weather forecasts. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) โ€” for displaying non-personalized ads to support the free version of the app, and for caching weather data locally for offline use.
  • Contract Performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) โ€” to provide the weather forecasting service you requested.
๐Ÿ“Œ You can withdraw your consent for personalized advertising at any time by:
  • Going to Settings โ†’ Manage Ad Consent in the app
  • Or via your device: Settings โ†’ Google โ†’ Ads โ†’ Opt out of Ads Personalization

3. Third-Party Services

RealMeteo uses the following third-party services. Each has its own Privacy Policy which we encourage you to review:

  • Open-Meteo โ€” weather data provider. Receives your coordinates to return forecast data. No personal data is stored. open-meteo.com
  • Google AdMob โ€” advertising platform. May collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google Play Services โ€” used for location and ads infrastructure. policies.google.com/privacy
  • Open-Meteo Geocoding API โ€” used to search for cities by name. Only the search query (city name) is sent, no personal data.
  • Google Play Billing โ€” used for in-app purchases (Premium subscription and "Remove Ads" feature). support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/10281818
๐Ÿ“ข

4. Advertising

RealMeteo is a free app supported by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display banner ads, native ads, and interstitial ads within the app.

Google AdMob may use your Advertising ID and other non-personal signals to show you relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

  • On your Android device: Settings โ†’ Google โ†’ Ads โ†’ Opt out of Ads Personalization
  • Or visit: adssettings.google.com

You can also remove all ads permanently from within the app by going to Settings โ†’ Enter Code.

Consent Management:
RealMeteo uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent for personalized advertising. When you first open the app, you will be asked whether you accept personalized ads. You can change your preference at any time by going to Settings โ†’ Manage Ad Consent in the app.

You can control your ad preferences and opt out of personalized advertising through the following links:

๐Ÿ”

5. App Permissions

RealMeteo requests the following Android permissions:

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION โ€” to detect your location for weather forecasts. Optional; you can use the app by searching for a city manually.
  • INTERNET โ€” to fetch weather data and load advertisements.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS โ€” to send morning weather notifications. Only requested if you enable this feature in Settings.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED โ€” to reschedule notifications after device restart.
๐Ÿ“Œ Location permission is never required. If you deny it, you can still use the app by manually searching for any city.
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

6. Data Storage & Security

All user preferences (language, units, favorite cities, notification settings) are stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.

Weather data is cached locally on your device for offline use and is automatically overwritten on each successful update.

We do not operate any servers, databases, or backend infrastructure that stores your personal data.

Data Retention:
Weather data cached on your device is automatically overwritten with each update (typically every 1-60 minutes, depending on your settings). Your preferences are stored indefinitely until you uninstall the app or clear app data. We do not retain any personal data on our servers.

๐Ÿ‘ถ

7. Children's Privacy

RealMeteo is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under the applicable age has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

โš–๏ธ

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access โ€” request information about what data is held about you
  • Deletion โ€” request deletion of your data (note: most data is only on your device and can be cleared by uninstalling the app)
  • Opt-out of personalized ads โ€” via your Android device settings
  • Revoke permissions โ€” at any time via Android Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ RealMeteo โ†’ Permissions
  • Portability โ€” request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format (note: since all data is stored locally on your device, you can export it by using Android's backup feature)

Since we do not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device.

๐ŸŒ

9. International Data Transfers (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, please note:

  • You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.
